My wife uses a cattle prong to do the dishes. She jolts me with that cattle prong and the dishes get done. LOL.
All kidding aside, we wash dishes the old fashion way, by hand in the sink. She wants nothing to do with a dishwasher.

If only a few dishes are messed up in the evening, I hand wash them. If there's a bunch, I run the dishwasher. I don't like to use paper plates. Even if I used paper plates when having a crowd of people over for a meal, I would still have silverware, cups, glassware, pots & pans to wash so why bother with paper plates.

Washing dishes by hand makes use of the least water. Washing dishes in the dishwasher is an incredible sanitizer, probable the suitable. Even recycled paper utilized in some plates isn't very green!! It takes greater potential and aspects to make recycled paper than it takes to diminish down a tree and make new paper. Foam plated so not cave in in a hundred yrs so purely fill the land fills. Paper plates could be burned? yet that provides polution to the air.

I have a brand new home that came with new appliances, including a dishwasher. Sometimes, I reach for paper plates just for something different.

Blue Juliet...A dishwasher does not use more water than hand washing the dishes. It uses less & the water is so much hotter, killing the bacteria, hence there are less colds in the household.

I can wash dishes a lot faster than the dishwasher, and use less water. I do use foam plates from time to time. The dishwasher only gets used around the holidays when company comes.

I wash the dishes because the dishwasher needs a new pump. I would use paper plates, but I keep forgetting to buy them.

All of the above. I wash dishes by hand unless we've had company and there are loads of them, then I use the dishwasher. If we're eating leftovers, it's usually paper plates.

Plates....cleaned plates! Paper is NOT green in any way, and I wash dishes in cold water..rinsed first, but have found no need to fire up the heaters in the DW...and the dishes can drip dry as far as I am concerned. No matter where the power comes from , it leaves a nasty carbon foot print, and why leave one when there is absolutely no need.????

Unfortunately this apartment I recently rented did not come with a dishwasher so I have to wash by hand. It's not so bad because it's only me but I'll let 3-5 days build up then MAKE myself do them. I don't/won/t cook for myself so I just nuke a Lean Cuisine and have yogurt for breakfast so there aren't really that many waiting to be washed.

It's just a culture shock. I've had a dishwasher for 30 years.
