I heard this is a standard business card. Just how crappy is it and will Vista still look nice?

If you're not planning on gaming, the 8300GS is fine. I've run Vista on a laptop with a low-end Geforce 6-series, and it ran fine with all or most of the eye-candy enabled.

If you plan on playing any of the newer games, I would get at least a 8600GT , assuming the rest of your hardware is up to the task.

This is basically one of the bottom of the barrel 8000 series Nvidia graphics card with no Muscle at all.
Yea it will run Vista, but don't expect blazing speeds even with a powerful processor & tons of memory...
Your computer is as strong as the weakest link.

It is a budget DX10 card, expect budget performance.
