Patriotism must pass from one generation to the succeeding ones. Colonial mentality must be discarded.

Not that I've studied "The Sons of Liberty" in depth, but my understanding is that they were a response to unfair taxes levied by the British. The taming of those taxes was a colonists' cause, and they did indeed support that particular cause.
