He was handed the keys to the kingdom, and purposely drove this nation into the ditch. That is the saddest aspect of this whole fiasco. Memos please...

I disagree with you.

Someone that dumb is never capable of doing great things as the president of the United States.

The saddest and most despicable thing is that the Reagan Library did not release the following entry from the Reagan diaries until just last week; instead of in 2000 when it would have done some good:

From the just published REAGAN DIARIES. The entry is dated May 17, 1986.
"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his ne're-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."

This entry and the fact it was not released when W first ran for office is concrete evidence that the GOP are the mightest hypocrites in the world of politics. Hands down.

Bravo, Chi guy! You hit the nail on the head.

So many of these were just delivered to him on a platter!
Katrina could've been the opportunity of a life time! He could've been on a plane, ' a man of the people' photo op galore, he could've very well solidified the repubbies for another term in the house and hill, if he'd just taken advantage of that opportunity. But I guess thats what happens when you refuse to watch the news or read the papers!

All that compassion and sympathy 911 garnered for the US - we've never to my memory been so regarded by the worldwide community, it could've been used to make in roads and organizations on a global scale, but again wasted.

sorry I know I'm singing to the choir here, but its sort of awe inspiring when you think of how the mark was missed.

I don't think he was ever capable of great things. Once you investigate the myth of his past and see what Bush really was from age 1 to age 40-something, what you see is a total failure.

In a way Bush is somewhat of a tragic figure, the classic victim of a strong and famous father. GW never had to work for a thing and I think he knows that nothing he ever did, was done on his own.

Well maybe he did learn to fly a plane on his own, but you know, that's hardly a qualification for president of the United States.

Bush was a lousy governor, a lazy student, a lazy good for nothing in business, a gold-bricker in the Air Guard, and the worst president in history.

It's really all predictable. I'm surprised people thought he could ever do any good. He never did in the past, so what was supposed to happen....a miracle as he walked into the Oval Office?

Well I suppose the Lincoln myth is something like that, so maybe Americans got to believe their own history book BS?

Well, yes it is sad. We are about 200% more despised worldwide than were were in 2000.

The map to success as president was easily mapped out, kind of hard to make a country so great go so bad in a matter of years (not decades).

To be honest, I think he actually handed the car and keys of the kingdom to Cheney.

Then Cheney mistook the car for an aging lawyer and shot one of the tires.

He wasn't exactly 'handed' the keys but I'd agree with you that he didn't live up to the potential he could have. I was one who believed his promises and hoped for the best. Do I regret voting for him? Hard to say since I was dead set against both Gore and Kerry. What it boils down to is that it's time for us to stop making the same mistakes every election year and start voting for candidates with honest agendas and truly fresh ideas.

Ron Paul 2008!

Every President since JFK has done this.

All because of the families behind the Federal Reserve Bank.

Bastards!

Now with the WTO and the Central Bank they want to indebt the whole world since they've successfully indebted most of the people of the United States!

Although I didn't vote for him I was hopeful that he would surprise me and do a great job. He did a lousey job. On 9/11 he had the opportunity to be great but he made some very bad decisions.

That seems to be the beat he marches to. He had several failed businesses before he ever entered the political arena. If he couldn't run a business anywhere but into the ground, I'm not at all surprised he's been an abysmal failure when it comes to running an entire country. I think it stems from getting everything he ever wanted in life handed to him and never having to earn anything.
