If we try to understand the chronology of the cosmic system... everything becomes crystal clear! What happens after the death of the body is a question that disturbs many! Bhagavad Gita the most sacred Scripture of Hinduism on Mother Earth makes it clear... it is our soul atman within that is on its cosmic journey and not the body... the human form!
Every soul atman manifests the form of a human being to work out its karma... eradicate the impurities within! The form of a human being is the highest manifest stage in the cosmic life cycle. Only as a human being the soul atman within regains its original pure pristine form by gaining liberation from the cycle of birth and death forever!
The form of a human being is simply a garment for the soul atman within. Our soul atman within is on its cosmic journey of 8.4 million manifestations. The human form is reached after crossing 7.3 million manifestations in the insect, plant and the animal form! In the human form alone we have 1.1 million manifestations... and earthly cycle of 12.1 million years!
The moment death of the body occurs... the soul atman within tries manifesting a new body... a new life cycle provided matching parents are available on Mother Earth. The governing factor in the cosmic life cycle is karma... the residual balance of which keeps moving from one manifestation to other!
If matching parents are not available on Mother Earth... the soul atman hibernates either in Heaven or hell. Both Heaven and hell exist in Sun... Heaven in the center of the sun and hell in the periphery! It is in the center of the sun where temperatures exceed millions of degrees centigrade... the soul atman feels comfortable!
In the periphery of the sun where temperatures are considerably less... the soul atman suffers for eternity! Both Heaven and hell are interim stages in the life cycle of soul atman within. No human being can ever bodily enter heaven and hell. The boast by many religious teachers of gaining a seat in Heaven is superfluous... such things never exist!
As a student changes uniform from class to class... the soul atman changes body based on residual balance of karma. If the residual balance of karma demands one being born in the house of a laborer... one cannot manifest the form of a prince... it simply cannot be! The essence of life always remains... Reaching the end of the cosmic journey... the 8.4 millionth manifestation! More on Heaven - Heahttp://www.godrealized.org/understanding_the_whole_concept_of_heaven.html

These questions have been asked and written about for thousands of years and people are still writing about them.
This is pondering the imponderable and I'm convinced it makes your brain work better.
I still ponder but I'm not 100% for sure.
Pretty sure energy is immortal but probably changes form. Kind of like water. If you think about it, every drop of water that has ever existed on this planet, is still here but in different forms. Since our atmospheric system is closed the water can't really go anywhere as it it all recycled as are most other forms of matter. Some is still water, some ice and a lot of vapor (clouds and such) but it's all still here.
I can't help but wonder if our (life) energy might not just change form but I would not claim to know what form that change would take.
For the record, I am 59 yrs and a man.

Well for me this is just how I think about it. 1 If there is a GOD who made him/her? 2. We have limited use of our brains for a reason (some up to a whole 8%) We don't have a very long time here. 3 Why believe what any other man or woman tells you because they don't know either! 4 What would you do in heaven? For ever? How long is that? Come on really think about that one. I personally do not limit myself to heaven or hell... I believe it's more of a time and space situation... Why limit yourself to one small aspect of the unknown? Why not try to grasp further into that?

What ever ones consciousness is at teh time of death determines their next lifes existance (Reincarnation) Yes their is a created material heaven and hell. If ones karma (reactions to ones actions) is very good they go to heaven and very they go to hell. No one goes to these places eternally. And if one has a combo of the two they come to earth and if they fully transcend they go to the eternal world. first we have to understand we are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy.
For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line.

I'm 13, and female. The Bible clearly tells us (see Ecclesiastes 9 :5,6) that the dead know absolutely NOTHING! "Lazarus sleepeth," Jesus told His disciples. Lazarus was dead, but that is just what death is - a sleep, until Jesus, the Life-giver, awakes us, at His second coming (which will happen very soon!!!) (See the gospel of John 11:11-14)
Search the entire Bible - you will never find that the soul is immortal - you WILL find that "God only hath immortality"! Immortality, in heaven is a gift God gives to those who choose it by following God's instructions in John 3:16 - prayerfully study that verse!
No, the Bible nowhere teaches that hell is burning now. After Jesus comes the wicked will be destroyed, and Satan will be bound on the earth 1,000 years. (Revelation 20, whole chapter) Then Jesus, and the redeemed, who have been in heaven with Him, descend to the earth in the New Jerusalem. The wicked, incited by Satan, surround the city, hoping to take it. But fire comes from God, and consumes them. UTTERYLY! They do not burn forever!
Study your Bible with an open mind, prayerfully, and EVERY question you have will be answered!

Dear Mom....I can tell you...and not rewrite the Bible in the telling (sorry)....When you die, those who loved you and have passed on will be there with you...As you rise from your bed it will only be your soul, your body is left back on the bed...there will be no pain or sorrow...you will not be of physical form...only energy...and you will go not to heaven or hell but will return to the beautiful place from which you came...and you will remember why you came and what had come before...and the concerns of this world will not trouble you. Later, when you are ready for more lessons, you may return here.

Something like when you switch off a computer. That is, the hard disk still spins for a few seconds and stop, finally.
It's over. Just, ther is no way to start again.
I do believe that life on earth is Heaven for some and Hell for others, actually.
I'm 47, male, and of French origin.

Really haven't the foggiest. There's a wide variety of probable answers though, like Heaven and Hell. But, do you really think that as a human you'll ever get to solve this question? In fact, we can be sure about nothing, not even the immortality of the human soul!!!

I believe that our spirits linger in this world after we die. Heaven and Hell are places that some religions use in oder for them to convince their followers to do what whatever book or blible or whatever says it's right or wrong.
I also believe that we make our own "heaven" and "hell" here on earth. I guess it goes along with the concept that if you do good things - good things will happen to you, but if you are a bad person bad things will come to you.
Also - it comes down to being happy - not only with yourself, but with everything in your life. If you have reached a point in your life where you have inner peace and happiness life will be great - but if you are generally unhappy and dissatisfied with yourself... life will be crapy.

You can know for certain the answer to your question. We share a consciousness with our God. It is the only way that we can think at all. By exploring this shared consciousness you can obtain the answer to all of your questions directly from God without the intervention of any other. This is discussed in John 14 and 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 and presented in step by step detail by Saint and Doctor of the Church, Teresa of Avila's book "Interior Castles." It is totally your choice but I am very happy that I pursued this path to truth. I can but will not provide the final answer to you but if you truly seek it you will find it there.

I'm about a thousand years old and as you know, fairies
have no gender....but all I can say is for humans there's
a bud, a leaf, a flower and a death....then another bud
comes along and it starts all over again. It's the same
with every living thing on earth. Spend alone time in
nature observing and if you're very lucky, you will also
come to this conclusion. It's simple...nothing else.
Live well.
