Start with your first day of your period, obviously the end of the last pack of pills you take. Make sure you temp first when you wake up before getting up or anything. Try to be consistent at the time. Temping helps, not in the first cycle exactly, but it will help you recognize an ovulation pattern. The first cycle off the pill you should monitor cervical mucus and cervical position. I would recommend trying www.fertilityfriend.com. They have an excellent site for recording your data, and it's free. They also in their FAQ's will explain to you how to pinpoint ovulation. Don't worry about being infertile after the pill, I ovulated my first cycle off the pill. Good luck!

Some say to start with the first day of your period, but coming off Birth Control that can be tricky.

I wasnt on Birth control, but I started temping in the middle of a cycle. I didnt do it to really analyze it, I did it more to get myself in the habit. It gave me 2 weeks of doing it every morning, so by the time my period started, it was part of my routine. If you start early though, just try not to read too much in to the chart. Its good, though for getting an idea of your own cycle and, like I said, forming the habit;)

If you buy a basal body thermometer the instructions for how and when will be inside.

You should give your body at least 3 months to adjust to being off the pill so your temp readings will be accurate. Some people need longer. Everyone is different.

Start charting your temps the first day of your period. Also, go to your nearest bookstore and look for a book called "Taking Charge or Your Fertility" by Teri Weschler. It is a great books filled with all kids of information. I would be happy to answer anymore questions you may have about this. Please feel free to e-mail me. Britbrit2639@yahoo.com
