I have used practically everything out there to offer and the best I've come across for my laptop is Windows Live One Care. It doesn't take up to much room, it doesn't cost much and it does exactly what it's suppost to do. It's small and discreet to so I don't have to be constantly reminded of it.

you have messenger spam!
XP only,Vista has this done already.
all programs--OR CONTROL PANEL--administrative tools--services
all services are in alphabetical order
Alerter Service
right click--select properties--select disable from drop down menu
do the same for
Messenger Service
also do a complete spyware and virus scan afterwards using your anti-spyware software [ none ? get Spybot here
http://browseraddons.friendpages.com
and be sure to include a anti-virus scan using your anti-virus software [ none ? get from above link ]
installing a rootkit scanner/remover is also a WISE move and get it from above link.
in Vista, the administrative tools is on your start page,go from there
for POP UNDERS
that's those pesky ads that show up AFTER you close a window.
add these urls to content advisor's blocker
http://b.casalemedia.com
http://c1.zedo.com
http://banners.bid4prizes.com
http://www.zedo.com
http://media.fastclick.net
http://ad.yieldmanager.com
http://c5.zedo.com
I.E.
control panel--internet options--content tab--content advisor--approved sites
choose block or never allowed
Firefox
tools--options--content--load images automatically--exceptions--add address--choose block
privacy tab--cookies--exceptions--add address--choose block

Easy. Get an all rounder protection software for your computer. Get "Norton 360" it includes everything for security and safety for your computer. It costs money but it's worth it!
