Ok answers community, probably full of blood thirsty liberals looking to devour a good ole party member. Tell me why the dems, have all the black votes. I can't understand that. I am a history buff, and history buffs don't intimidate me *****. Anyway, the south was all about southern democrats, and the north was all rich republicans. The south fought and died to protect slavery, the north fought and died to abolish it. Now I do agree that the south has become more republican because of the bible belt and all, but why are black people so loyal to a party that was so violent and racial to them? and don't say that republicans are racial, because all the democrats are after is the black vote, they don't care a thing about the advancement of black people.

In summary, there isn't a dime's bit of difference between the Republicans and Democrats.

It's about being the most experienced at conning the American public into thinking you'll make a difference if you get in the White House.

Obviously both parties no longer believe in slavery anymore. The Republican North fought to end slavery, and the Democratic South fought to protect it -you are right. But now in the years since Jim Crow laws and civil rights, the Democrats, perhaps through guilt, or just because of changing demographics (way more minorities living in the South) have come out on the side of minority and immigrant rights, and the Republicans on the side of big-business friendly, winner take all capitalism. That's why minorities now support mostly Democrats.

You don't have your facts straight or maybe I should say that you shouldn't use the word "all" when referring to the "Black vote". There are most likely more Black people to vote Dem than to vote Republican, but to say "all" Black people vote Dem is not correct. I am a Black female who is "expected" to vote for Obama (because he is half Black) or Hillary (because she is female). I just get so annoyed when questions like this is asked this day in age. This is 2007... not 1967!!! I was wise enough to do research on all candidates & then determine who I would vote for. I am voting for Ron Paul, because I think he is the best person for the job. I am a registered Republican, but consider myself an Independent. You shouldn't generalize in such questions!!!

I believe that the Republicans are viewed by many as the friends of the powerful. Minorities (and I use that term loosely) generally view themselves as the underdogs in this country, and the Democrats' socialist ideals appeal to the downtrodden.
Personally, I don't think that either party is all that different. They both have adopted the quixotic idea that the FEDERAL government can heal all of the world's woes. If you'll refer to the federal government's mandate (the constitution), you'll see that we each have the right to our own pursuit of happiness, for better or for worse. I think we should rethink all of these wasteful policies and take more personal responsibility for our destiny, before it is too late. If society has a dire need for something, I have faith that private organizations can fill the void.
RON PAUL IN 2008!

I don't think they are. I am amazed at the people they say are dems; homosexuals; minorities; pro-choicers; union members; etc. In reality, there are people who belong to both parties from all of the groups.

Blacks are no more Dems than they are welfare folks where the men leave the unmarried woman with 6 kids from 7 different men. Homosexuals are no more liberal than any other segment of the population.

It is amazing, I am a pro-choice conservative who has been called a Nazi because of my conservative stands. I have been told I need to choose, I cannot be both. Hmmm, didn't George W's mom come out against his stand?

It is funny, I personally believe that there are more closet conservatives than there are closet gays. Look, if you are a proud conservative, you are called a Nazi, murderer, perv, pedophile, idiot, freak, plus some words that I will not type due to MY family values. Maybe closet conservatives are why Bush won twice.

I'm not real political or historical, but my impression of the Dems is that they are for social programs to help the poor and disadvantaged, whereas Reps like for people to work to help themselves. Given the very high poverty rate of blacks in the south, I see why so many blacks are Dems, because there is more sympathy there for welfare programs and such. This is just a short answer.

I know many black republicans. They tend to be older, wiser, and have a work ethic.

If you are implying a majority of a race who are lazy and want the government to support them for free choose to vote for the party who will expand benefits and welfare for all, well, that is another matter all together.

What you are saying makes no sense whatsoever. You seem very confused about history and politics I have to say.

I think you've really swallowed the GOP Kool-Aid from the 5-gallon jug. You aren't thinking straight.
