Is it a 24 hour notice or so, or can they just knock and expect to be let in. This question is specific to Minnesota tenant law.

In most areas, it is 24 hours.

However if it's an emergency, like a water leak or gas leak or something, they can enter right away.

What's wrong with a landlord asking if they can come in without notice? Did they have a legitimate reason? If so, let them in. If not, tell them it's not convenient right now and come back tomorrow.

Don't get all lawyerly on them.

According to the "Landlord and Tenant Act of State Of Arizona" Landlord must give the tenant 24 hours written notice before any inspection can occur. Mind you after that the Landlord has a right and WILL enter the unit to inspect conditions and document what he has found.
It is a good thing that the landlord is inspecting your apartment. There could be problems with surrounding units and he/she may need to ascertain the scope of the problem.
Unless you are a trouble type of resident then clean your place before they come. ( you have 24 hours)
