The GTO is an Holden Monaro made in Australia starting from 2001. Then in 2004 put a Pontiac styled front end on it and called it a GTO. It was already old when it was new in the states.
Pontiac stopped selling them because Holden stopped making them in '05, nobody bought them, it looked like a Caviler, too plain, only has 2 doors, and made in Australia.
For some reason Americans are buying performance 4 door cars like Chrysler's Magnum/Charger/300. So Pontiac is bringing the 4 door Holden form Australia and calling it the G8 that looks similar to the Nissan Altima.

Because the camaro and trans am returning next year. I own a 2006 six speed GTO that has been the most flawless car I ever owned. Holden will import the pontiac G-8 four door with 265hp V-6 and 365hp 6.0 v-8 next year. Or you can have a Cadillac cts-v with all the performance all wheel drive and six speed manual.

How can a imported car made by the Aussies be American?
How can a car with a Chevy engine be a Pontiac?
It was a lie, the word "Pontiac" was not even on the car for the first year and half!
All of you who have one, you drive a bastard chevy import!
They suck and I welcome any fake import chevy "gto" to a street or 1/4 race.
I would like to mail the video to GM showing a REAL AMERICAN PONTIAC POWERED GTO BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF FAKE GTO!

yes, 06 was the last year as people didn't take to it seeing it was foreign built and supposibly an american muscle car origionally, in the beginning of it in 04 it didn't have hood scoops or a true dual exhaust and that really soured people on it and the sales were terrible even though it was a good fast car, I look for GM to bring it back out in a couple of years after they get the camaro going and it will be made on the same zetta platform and made in the U.S.

No, they are completely re-doing it for 2008, whole new body style. They couldn't get rid of such a great car.

They look too much like a Grand Am. People who want a small 2dr w/ lots of power want it to look cool.
