I had horrible pain after my daughter and it turned out to be retained placenta. They should do a ultrasound to see if there is anything inthere. Are you bleeing more than normal?

I went 8 WEEKS before having a D&C to remove it. I should have pushed a little harder. I ended up receiving multiple pints of blood because I thought they knew best. I can no longer bare children myself

Hi Sam - congrats on your birth :)
If you have a uterine infection generally these are well managed with antibiotic therapy. Once treated you should not have any further problems.
A few clarifying questions though - did you have a vaginal birth?
If it is a womb infection these are some questions...Is your vaginal loss smelly? or has it changed in redness over the past days? The most common cause of womb infection is retained placenta or membrane bits. Usually the body will try to get rid of them by increasing the bleeding and you get some clots..... a good reason to return to your doctor if this happens!
If it is a bladder infection these are some thoughts... Does the pain occur after you have urinated? Do you have any burning or stinging when you pass urine? Is your urine particularly smelly? Any of these symptoms could indicate a urine infection.... another good reason to visit your doctor and get antibiotic treatment.
