we did the general construction of a restaurant and worked with the owners' electrical maintenance (as requested by the owner) who did the electrical. after complition, the owner added some audio, projectors, lazer lights and smoke machines, tapping them into existing circuit lines. the owner added another 1hp split type Aircondition in his make shift office. upon initial calculation of loads, the ampheres of each were now 114, 124, and 98 amp ratings. can you suggest on how do we balance the load without interfering with the operations of the restaurant? could i just add a spare load for the 98amps?

i'm not an electrician but i do understand some principles of electrical wirings. thanks

Those loads are not far enough out of balance
to be really a problem.
If there are spare breakers, you might switch
a single phase load from the 124A. phase to
the 98 A. phase, but remember that in a restaurant,
the loads will vary over time.
It's not enough of an imbalance to worry about
unless the panel is 150 A. or less.

The only way to balance that load is to take some of the load off the circuit that is 124 and move it to the circuit that has 98 amps on it. What you need to do is swap a few breakers. I would clamp them individually and you should be able to get it pretty close. You also may want to make sure that this is not a voltage thing. You need to check all three phase to phase voltages in order to know if your problem is upstream or down. you may not have a problem at all. But for posterity, find a load on the 124 that is around 12 amps and move it to the 98. That will get you close. Good Luck and be careful. If in doubt call an electrician.

On most three phase systems one leg of the power will have a higher voltage than the other two legs will..this could be the reason there is a difference in the different legs..in our area you will have 125 volts to ground from 2 legs and 150 volts to ground from one leg...that is what you need to check and make sure you do not have any single phase 120 volt equipement on the high leg.....it will not make any difference on 220 volt single or three phase equipement if they are on the high leg, it only affects single phase equipement...but will lower the amp draw on any equipement on the high leg...

The loads you have are close enough. Much closer than many. And it doesn't matter anyway. I would leave it alone. Don't add loads just for the heck of it. That increases the electric bill. And calculations don't mean anything anyway.

There's no need to _add_ a load; the objective of balancing would be to remove some the load on one of the branches (i.e. the 124A one) and move it to the 98A branch.

add the airconditioner to the 98 amps,but I don't see any problems the way it is.
