Pomeranians are a toy breed. He could be having a problem with his knee. Luxating patellas are very common in toy breeds. The knee cap comes out of place and it hurts to put pressure on it.. which could be why he isn't walking on it.. then hours later.... it will be moved back in place by him moving and shifting around and then can use all four feet. He should be checked by the vet to see if he is a candidate for it. I don't recommend breeding him since he can produce this in his puppies.

You might want to check his paw and make sure nothing is stuck in it. Also, some little dogs like that sometimes, sort of dislocate their "knee" joint, so they will not use the leg until it feels better. I have a friend with a Pomeranian, and she has this problem too. If it continues, you might have a vet check it out.

A lot of the smaller dog breeds will have "trick knees" where the knee cap will slip down and cause it to be out of place. This can be fixed by surgery but if it doesn't bother him that much I wouldn't be that concerned. A trip to the Vet would help and they could tell you if the surgery would be a good idea .. but this is probably just his knee slipping out of joint and then slipping back in.

Luxating patellas are common in this breed. See your vet, have the dog checked for it, and they can tell you where to go from there.

You don't tell us his age.....he could have the beginnings of arthritis, or I believe poms can have hip problems......check it with your vet, as if he is doing it because of pain, there are medications that can help...
