have you ever read the short story " the lottery"? it's about a villiage where it has a box that you pick a rock from.. and if your rock has a red dot on it.. it means you have been chosen to get stoned. it was an old family tradition passed down for generations... that is not a good tradition to pass down. it's stupid. now certain timeless, classic traditions such as trimming the tree on christmas or having turkey on thanksgiving, or easter egg hunts on easter, or dradels and menorahs on hannuka should be passed down. but it's always a good idea to start new traditions along the way.

It's good for birthdays Christmas etc when everyone gets on with each other but if they don't its best not to carry on with them if you want a nice peaceful time!!
