A toaster. They still work the same and toast.
Of course, the refrigerator, just not as good as they ones now.
We had a radio and that was my favorite of all the things. It was a beautiful piece of furniture instead of just a little radio. You opened it up and inside was the record player and next to it, was the radio. My Daddy always made sure we had music in our home. I know it is not an appliance, but just a good memory I wanted to share.

Oops, I read this whole thing wrong and if I delete, I cant answer.

My dishwasher, my washer and dryer, my hair appliances, my coffee maker, my icemaker, and some I probably can't think of. Automatic can opener, and of course, the microwave oven. Sorry about the goof up.

Computers, cell phones, microwaves, fax machines, cordless phones, lights made just for reading, digital cameras, PDAs, iPhones, Direct TV, Dish Network, TiVo, DVR, CDs, HDTV, at home water purifiers, etc.

I was born in 1978. I remember when I was in 6th grade, and we HAD to take a computer class, and I remember thinking, "God, this is so stupid. This will never catch on (computers). Why do I have to take this stupid class?" The computers were so primitive. Funny now.
I just got a digital camera 2 months ago. LOVE it.
Microwaves...my family first got one when I was 10 or 11. I thought it was SO cool.
Cell phones and cordless phones....up until I was 12 or 13, my family always had rotary phones. Then we got push button phones (neat!), then cordless phones (wow, so futuristic) that still had to be put on a base unit. Then I first saw cell phones on TV in the mid 1990s, and never imagined they would catch on (like computers). And now, everyone has a cell phone, even the little old lady who is walking with a walker down the street at .00001 miles per hour is on a cell phone. I love when I see 80 year olds showing off pictures of their grandchildren on their cell. Funny.

Television and a refrigerator. I grew up in the days of the radio and the ice box when the ice man came with big tongs to carry the block of ice so the ice box would be cold when the milk man left glass bottles of milk on the front porch. You could see the cream through the glass at the top of the bottle. We used part of the cream to churn into butter or whipped cream.

Good question, Dottie! On a quotidian basis, I use and love my microwave oven. It's the only thing that's been invented since 1960 that I can't live without!

We didn't have a microwave until I was in my teens, and didn't have a VCR (now DVD player) untill after i was grown & out of the house on my own.

My best friend growing up had "rich parents" who were able to buy a betamax system and I was amazed.
