there are 100s of diseases that vets have to see and diagnose your best bet would be to get a book explaining animal diseases

No, cause the list fills up a book that's over 1000 pages long. Look in the library for Veterinarians Desk reference.
By the way, if you think becoming a practitioner of the medical arts, veterinary or not is answerable in this forum, you're in for a big shock if this is what you are planning on doing.
Undertaking medical studies requires long hours of study and cross referencing, not asking for a list on Yahoo Answers.

It would be a very long list! Animals are prone to lots and lots of diseases, and vets have to work with the sick animals.
Some that immediately come to mind include rabies, lyme disease, and cancer.

haha, vetrinarians work with books of deseases. You need to narrow it down a little to symptoms, animals and so forth.
