Man is smarter than woman in general?

Question

In my opinion, man is more creative than woman. look at that famous film-maker, writer, painter/artist, politician, scientist. but woman is way more mature than man. and i agree with the phrase, behind every great man, there's great woman.
plz, gimme me your argument!

This is a totally broad statement and one that isn't based on solid facts or theorys. The fact that women have been oppressed, and still are in many ways, for thousands of years puts us in a place where we are constantly having to play "catch up" with men becuase they have historically been given the predominant and influential position. If a women were to come up w/ an achievement it surely would have been disregarded or stolen in centuries past. Women who used to practice medicine were considered "witches" during the Salem witch trials - for thousands of years women have been persecuted for showing any type of predominance or equality with men and so females have been historically forbidden out of many areas of society. Even today many women still struggle to get the respect and the chance they deserve - we still haven't had a women president in the USA for goodness sakes and it's 2007 - this isn't because women are not well equipped it is because they have not been allowed to be in this powerful position. The argument that men are smarter and more creative is false - PEOPLE in general lack abilities that others have but you cannot say that one sex is smarter than the other - especially considering the history - it's just ignorant.

I agree with half your statement. I don't believe that men are MORE creative than women. BUT I really don't believe that ALL women are smarter than men. I've read some pretty dumb question AND answers on here from BOTH sexes. I think it depends on the individual and not on necessarily education either. I've seen some pretty smart people that didn't even get out of high school and there's another side to that coin. I've seen some pretty dumb people with college educations. Looks what's in our white house. That should prove my last statement. Have a nice day!

I don't think that men are any smarter or any more creative than women. Studies have shown that general intelligence level, creativity, manual skills, etc., are statistically equal between men and women, as well as being equal across different races. Now it is true that in certain subcategories, there are differences. For example, men TEND (statistically speaking) to be better at mathematical tasks, while women tend to be better at tasks that involve spatial visualization. But these are subcategories of intelligence.

I think the reason you see so many examples of great scientists, artists, and leaders who are men is just as another answerer pointed out... only in recent history have women been afforded many of the social rights that men have always had. That doesn't mean that the great men in history don't deserve credit, but had women been given the opportunities that men have always had there surely would have been just as many prominent female figures. And if you look at society today, there are many successful men AND women in each segment of society.

I can't say that you can judge either way. In years gone by, most men were better educated, since it was their job to support the family. Times have changed and now both are about equally educated.

I say that you have to take each person on their own ability, and you can't profile any group and make those statements.

I'd say the break down would be 50/50%. There will always be someone smarter and someone dumber than you are, male or female.

Man may be more creative in some aspects but that doesnt mean smarter. Men can be quite smart but women too can be smart as well thats a toss up I dont think either sex is smarter than the other some people male and female can and are idiots and some are smart thats the world

I realy dont think either is smarter or more creative. We all have a wide range of talents. Women may just have a natural flair for a certain aspect over men.

Not so much...women are usually just as smart if not smarter. You should search out biographies on great women. Bullet proof vest, windshield wipers, laser printers...all invented by women. There are some AWESOME women artist and filmmakers. Search them out and you may even be surprised at what you find. It's been a man's world for a LONG time, but women have really made a path in the past century...and we're still going, baby!

y is it ppl are always saying women are loving and caring. if u think for 1 second ur own grandma has not done some really mean crap to someone for hurting something she cared about u are crazy! women can be more mean than men any day and the only reason y men dominate this world is because they have a built in hierarchy. if women could have any hierarchy even for a year this world would be a better place. for some reason we do not work or even play well together. i dont know y exactly but it is true. that is our only flaw.
