i believe in Destiny.. but not something we succumb to,
but something that guides us where we ought to be....
=))))))))))))))))
The words Destiny and Destination might have the same root, but their meaning are far different from each other. the Destination doesnt affect Destiny, it is more of the latter over the previous. if literally Taken, we are destined to die(as to Death, so as to it's shallow meaning we refer to it as Destination).. but my own personal view of Destiny is a powerful force behind our endeavors(intentions, actions) to come up with a certain result(not necessarily a fixed destination).. it can be adjusted because we have our power to choose...(which religiously denoted as "free will"). Some may call it Fate, some Luck.... Some use it as an excuse for mistakes that brought disappointments and frustrations(broken dreams, unfinished works, unsuccessful relations, etc) .. some consider Destiny as an ally in their bid to reach the top, like an invisible push.. but it's still up to you whether you want to believe in it or not(but mostly an alibi for negative results and a romantic explanation for the positive ones)..

but i still think Destiny should be a benevolent guding force to show you the right way, it's just up to you to take it.... or make your own destiny yourself...
it's just sometimes when you're heading the wrong way...
it drags you away from the harm. Yes, you might not like the outcome..
but it might be the best for you after all.

True real love comes from God and this is called "agape" love from the Greek. Love is described in I Corinthians 13. People can love a lot of things and people might say they love somebody but if that love is tested they might not love them at all. Wanting to possess somebody is not true love, that is more like lust or greed. We should love God first and our neighbor second. I Cor. 13 says: 1 Corinthians 13 The Excellence of Love 1If I speak with the (A)tongues of men and of (B)angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a (C)clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of (D)prophecy, and know all (E)mysteries and all (F)knowledge; and if I have (G)all faith, so as to (H)remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3And if I (I)give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I (J)surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 4Love (K)is patient, love is kind and (L)is not jealous; love does not brag and is not (M)arrogant, 5does not act unbecomingly; it (N)does not seek its own, is not provoked, (O)does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6(P)does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but (Q)rejoices with the truth; 7(R)bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8Love never fails; but if there are gifts of (S)prophecy, they will be done away; if there are (T)tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9For we (U)know in part and we prophesy in part; 10but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12For now we (V)see in a mirror dimly, but then (W)face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also (X)have been fully known. 13But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is (Y)love. Destiny implies that X is inevitable. I do not subscribe to this thinking. Fears can be seen as destiny and as we know, fears by their nature are irrational.

We can use probability to determine the likelihood of an event happening in the future, however, it is still a guess.

Destiny though, usually takes on some religious meaning as if our lives are pre-ordained. I have a test for you if you believe in destiny.

Personally, I don't believe in "destiny". I think that all of
us fall into various character types that attract other
character types and create situations of what seem to
be "destiny". The concept assumes that some force
outside ourselves is running the show, but there are
predictable "coinsidences" according to the path you
choose and the way you live your life...no less magical
though when it happens.

Destiny is our reactions in this life from our previous life's actions. Karma (What goes around comes around. In our previous life we did things which created reactions good and bad in this life. So things that are happening to us in this life are due to mostly our past life and also some reactions we get from actions we did in this life. So when we meet something that we call our destiny then we understand that it was our karma for it to happen. Since destiny refers to a situation or outcome as though it were fixed or determined, I must say that I don't believe in it. I can't comprehend "who" would determine my destiny. We live, we make choices, things happen. It's possible to see a pattern in one's life, but that's primarily due to our basic nature--the paths we choose, the various aspects of ourselves in our behaviour, & "can" also be influenced by environment, if we let it.
I don't believe in it, so I can't say how it "works." But seems if this were true, we might as well sit around with our thumbs in our ears, because what's destined to happen will happen in spite of us!

Edit: 1.Putting effort into something isn't "destiny."
2. If we are in control of it, it is not destiny, i.e., predetermined
3. Enki--some excellent points, & the "guiding force" is YOU.

Destiny is real if you want it to be. You can SUBMIT to the programming your family and environment instilled in you. Or you can break free of it by writing your own story.
