I cant flex, or fully extend my arms without pain. I feel it mostly in my elbow and i dont know what it is. Im also not sure where it came from, but it brobaly was from an armbar that was done on me yesterday when i heard a cracking sound. however i didnt notice it then, not evan during the muay tai (Sp?) class after the first.
What is it? How long untill it goes away? Can i go to my martal arts clases without causeing anymore damage?

I don't know how old you are, but it really does sound like an injury to me. It will need time to heal and tell the person who did this to you that they hurt you so they won't hurt others! Sometimes the pain doesn't start until later because the inflammation has started and that's what hurts. I would go ahead and go to martial arts class but tell the teacher/coach exactly what happened and what it feels like, then only do the moves they suggest and watch the rest of the time. Maybe you can still do footwork or something.
Also, they may have had enough physical training to know what you have done to it and how serious the injury is. If it isn't better next week or if it keeps getting worse, plz go to the doctor, OK?
Live well and do good.

You are young enough to heal fast probably. I didn't know what an armbar was--I assumed it was something in an exercise that maybe the other person was helping you do. No! You are not being a wuss, but telling them they hurt you, is totally up to you. As for the injury, I hope it is better now, but if not, don't let it contiunue too long without medical attention. I should have told you to put cold on it, and then after a day or two, to put warm on it. And don't take too much pain killers because that will encourage you to do too much and hurt it worse, because it feels OK, when it's not.
Did coach help any? Do you have a school nurse?
I hope it's all better now!

You heard a cracking sound and you didn't think anything was broken? It's broken, stupid! That's why you can't flex or extend your arms. You've got a broken elbow or arm. Go to the ER now.

I was informed by my husband that that response was not the politest it could have been. It's just that some of these questions--for instance--am I pregnant? could really be answered at the drug store.

People, me included, don't want to go see the dr. I'm afraid she's going to find something bigger than my complaint. So, instead of going to the dr. when deep inside they know they should, they query on yahoo. Especially the young people.

I admire the fact that you're participating in an athletic/mind settling activity. Any time you hear a crack, if it's not just like popping your knuckles, it usually means something is cracked or broken.

My daughter (17) had a similar case when she fell jumping over a tennis net. She fell on her wrist and broke her elbow. She could not straighten it or flex it entirely until a few days after surgery. Now she's got a long pin in her elbow, though she has full use of it again.

So do what you think is best, but I'd certainly get an x-ray. Sorry for the grouchy first e-mail.

It's possible. Or you could have tight tendons in your wrist that are giving you the pains like that. Tight tendons pull the arm closer to the wrist so the nerves can touch at times to cause pains. Freeing up the tendons might get rid of your pains. Here's how to free them up: Wrist: With hand resting in front of you with the palm up, bend your wrist as far as you can.. Then press into the area behind the wrist, where they take your pulse, and hold a good amount of pressure on it. After 30 seconds slowly open your wrist up as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your wrist open for another 30 seconds For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

I would go to the doctor to make sure nothing is broken or dislocated.
