I am in a situation where a certain person is willingly violating policy to the point she would be fired if the truth was revealed. She is blaming everyone for starting the rumor but the person with whom she is involved is actually telling all of her business. Policy does not allow her to date this person because she holds a professional position, and he is a displayed consumer. She is boldly doing it and lying to her superior and co-workers. She then becomes wrathful and actually lies on innocent folk to circumvent what she is doing. She is so powerful and deceiving that she is going to get away with it. In a sense, she is a sociopath. Because of her looks and the sincere way she convinces everyone that she is doing nothing wrong, it is almost impossible to expose her.

Don't repeat gossip ; but do maintain an open friendly relationship with all your co-workers . If , for instance , you are told that another worker thinks you are lazy - casually (and friendly) ask that worker if this is true , as she might then tell you what you supposedly said about her/him . Eventually , sociopath with do herself in with her schemes . Don't try to expose her or you will play into whatever she might be saying behind your back . Don't trust her with any family secrets in the meantime .

is her position affecting your position directly? if not, i'd just stay out of it. her lie won't last. no one likes a tattle tale, so just mind your own business. she'll dig her own grave. i dont' think she's a sociopath, she just feels above policy. the person with whom she is involved sounds like he has a big mouth and he will probably eventually be the demise of her. i'd just stay out of it. policically, that's your best decision.

She has a true disorder and you are right...she is a sociopath. I would walk with a small tape recorder just so that you can cover your tracks.

Send your question content to your HR department. Go ahead, why let her continue. You can leave it up to them to take what ever action they want to. My work offers and on line way to tell that is anonymous.

I'd tell her I have dirt on her and the one thing she doesn't want me to do is tell it. Let her sweat it out as to what I will do.
