Instead of progressing and that we are taking steps backwards instead of forwards almost as if the more things change the more they really stay the same type of scenario?

As a country and a world I believe humanity is regressing . We should have been proceeding forward but it seems the more advanced we have become ,the more backward we go. I believe we are on the 10 yd line and it will only take a sack and we will be in trouble. With the advancements in technology and healthcare we still cannot find a cure for cancer or have we? Has the medical profession discovered a cure and are holding back because they know that millions of dollars would be reapportioned to other problems and not their own? The more things have changed the more we have stayed the same and actually because of advancements and we have not gone forward we are going backward. Look at the maoris or the aborigines they have no crime in their societies , their civilization is more civilized than ours and we have the worst crime rates today. I agree with you 100%.

you mean technology wise we are progressing, but as far as common sense goes we don't have much?? YES! I feel that way constantly!!!! I'm stupefied (i love that word,lol) how we can live in a society that can invent so many wonderful things, but isn't smart enough to realize we're better off with out them!

I think we are regressing in that people are less and less tolerant of people that are different than them.

you can gauge civilization by what they entertain themselves with... and given the state of movies, music and such lately, I'd say we're definitely on the way down
