I really liked them. I remember CBS took them off the air because they were too political. I find that funny now because look at SNL as an example. Yes, I still watch that sometimes, just miss the original ones. Share your thoughts, please.

yes I do. I had a kitty at the time and was watching Tommy doing one of the skits and he was saying shewwww pumas, so kitty was named Pumas. It was one of the times when you would just have to be there but I remember it as being hilarious.

Hi makeitright...was just looking at the list of questions that I didn't get to answer today and this one jumped out at me. Like the others above, I agree that they were a riot and was sorry to see the TV show end. When I was twelve they came to town, and as a birthday gift, my cousin took me to see them. Lots of laughs and giggles, and I loved their singing as much. Now fast-forward to about 10-12 years ago. I was working at the gift shop out at the airport, and bright and early one morning I looked up and there was Tommy Smothers standing right in front of me! He had come in to get a t-shirt for his daughter so we went over and found something he liked. Her name is Riley, which happens to be my maiden name, so I had to let him know. Then I told him how he and his brother had been my birthday gift all those years ago and that cracked him up. He was very easy-going and no there was no pretense about him at all. Finally got up the nerve to ask for his autograph and he was very gracious.Well, this has been a long answer, I know...just had to share it with you. Take good care!

Tommy and Dickie were the
funniest 2 guys ever. I laughed
at Tommy so much.
They still make public appearances sometimes.

Tommy and Dickie Smothers (Mom always liked you best!)oh golly! so funny! what comedy! and such great voices! thanx for reminding me of them. I wish they were on again-and what babies the government officials were! couldn't take a few little jabs then-look at what SNL managed to do later! they were ground breakers.

I remember them and enjoyed their sense of humor. They were considered controversial at that time, although with Nixon, everyone was. Anyway, I have added a link where you can read a little bit about them and a Youtube link to see some highlights. I hope you become as hooked on them as we once were.

Just the thought of them makes me smile, one of the greatest shows ever. My favorite was Tommy. How about you? You are so right about how times have changed pertaining to politics and TV shows. Thanks for the smile.

They were ahead of their time. Soooo clever!
Sooo funny. Some of my friends thought other comedians of that time were jealous of their popularity and pressured CBS(I believe) to find an excuse to get rid of them

I remember them well. I also remember when they appeared on Ted Macs (sp?) Amateur Hour. At the time I saw them they were introduced as brothers, but one of them was sick, so one (I don't remember which) did the act solo.
