But if the pain is severe or pesistent or new..please go see your OBGYN because it could be a symptom of a much bigger problem such as endometriosis.
I have recently been diagnosed with it and its quite painful, but Ive been told, perfectly treatable.
Our bodies are soo different that only "trial and error" will help you find what works for you.

Hope this helps.

I have Endometriosis which means extreme menstrual cramps.

What I have found to work the best is a heating pad. I use the Thermacare pads that are for the shoulder...they are bigger than the ones that they make for cramps and I think work better. Just stick that on your lower abdomen, the nice thing is that you can wear it under your clothes and no one is the wiser. If I use the Thermacare I usually don't have to use pain medications...but, REMEMBER TO READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BOX SO YOU DON'T BURN YOURSELF.

If you do have to to take pain medications then you can take Alleve, Advil, Aspirin, Midol, Pamprin, or Tylenol. Everyone is different so you will have to expierment with the different drugs. For Instance, Midol does nothing for me and Alleve helps a lot.

If you get the cramps regularly...and or if you have periods that are inconsistent then you really should see your OB/GYN because, it could be a problem like Endometriosis, which is where the lining of the uterus grows on the outside of the uterus and is very painful. If it is Endometriosis...never fear, birth control helps a lot and there is a surgery (I have had it) called the Laser Laproscopy procedure where they go and take off the Endometrial tissue that is growning on the outside of your uterus with a laser. It really helped me with my pain.

Hopes this helps

When you have cramps, what should you do or take?

You can take a Tylenol or Midol.
If the pain is really bad then you can put heating pads on your abdomen, and even go for a walk.

In addition to Midol and Tylenol you can also try a heating pad, as well as increasing the iron level by eating things like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course).

But if the cramps are so severe that you can't function then that needs to be evaluated by your doctor to see if they can figure out what could be causing this.

Hi Sweetie,
I strongly believe that everone has thier own
remedy as we all have different tolerances when it comes to pain/cramps, etc. eg. some girls/woman prefer Midol, Ibrorprofen,
Advil, etc. Personally, I chose Midol as it is 4 bloating, cramps, etc. & u wouldn't see a guy buying it, it's a Women's Medication 4 periods.
Hope this helps u decide?

I always take a bath if possible. The warm water and sitting position seems to help. If I don't have time I try and find the same sitting position on my bed if I am at home. If I am out I grin and bear it.

Assuming the downward-facing dog yoga position always helps me, though I'm not sure exactly why. I always thought it must relax those muscles or something.
