Picture it as a rectaugular solid (which it is) that has 6 faces. The "top" is 4 in by 12 ft, the "side" is 2in by 12ft, and the ends are 2in by 4in.
2 * [(2 * 144) + (4 * 144) + (2 * 4)].

1 foot = 12 inches
Volume
2 x 4 x 144 = 1152 in^3 = 0.66 ft^3
if the surface is 2in wide = 2 x 144 = 288 in^2
if the surface is 4in wide = 4 x 144 = 576 in^2

Hello
The total surface area of the figure can be found two different ways.
You can just find the area of each side and then add them.
Or you can find the lateral area and then add the area of the bases. I will do both techniques.
Be careful and convert the 12 ft to 144 inches
First, this figure has 6 sides of dimensions
2x4 = 8
2x4 = 8
2x144 =288
2x144 =288
4x144=576
4x144 =576
Add these areas to get 1744 square inches.
We can also find this by finding the lateral area (area of just the sides) and then add the area of the bases.
To find Lateral Area we just mulitply the perimeter of the base by its length.
Thus LA = 12in x 144in = 1728.
Now add the area of the 2 bases: 1728 + 8+8 = 1744 square inches.
Hope this helps

quantity of a dice is calculated as W x D x H. The dice root of 8 is two (2^3 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8). Your dice is for this reason 2 x 2 x 2 = 8, so the two facets is two gadgets extensive and 2 gadgets extreme. the portion of the two facets is calculated as W x H = 2 x 2 = 4 There are 6 facets on a dice. entire floor section is for this reason 6 facets x 4 gadgets = 24 gadgets.

Surface area would be the total area of the surface of the board, there would be two 2x4 in rectangles, two 2x144 in rectangles and two 4x144 in rectangles. Total area would be 2x(2x4) + 2x(2x144) + 2x(4x144) = surface area
16 + 576 + 1152 = 1744 inches squared
If this is a real world problem and they are actually asking for surface area of a 12ft long 2x4. The board is actually 1.5 in x 3.5 in x 12 ft. long
2x(1.5x3.5) + 2x(1.5x144) + 2x(3.5x144) = surface area
10.5 + 432 + 1008 = 1450.5 inches squared

A = 2(lw+lh+wh)
A = 2(12*1/3 +12*1/6 + 1/3*1/6)
A = 2(4 + 6 +1/18)
A = 2(10 1/18) = 20 1/9 ft^2

2 sides at 2" = 4"
2 sides at 4" = 8"
4"+8"=12"
12'x12"=144"
12"x144"=1728 square inches.
Board is 1728 square inches, which divided by 144 = 12 square feet. If you want the ends added in, add another 16 square inches, giving you 1744 square inches, or 12.11 square feet.
