Most young people and some older people are influenced by the media. When you get to be as old as I am (almost 62) you appreciate the beauty within a person and not so much on the outside. The really beautiful people usually turn out to be such jerks just because they are beautiful on the outside and have nothing on the inside.
We are constantly be bombarded with all forms of media saying you can be more beautiful if you use this product. It is the stupidest thing anyone could ever say. People who know you inside are the ones who make the difference.

The media isn't actually dictating standards of beauty, it's the people who are gullible enough to believe that if you do this or that, or wear a certain brand of clothing, or use a particular brand of perfume or cologne, or lose a gazillion pounds - these people perpetrate notions of what beauty is; and it's usually only skin deep. Real beauty is something that comes from within a person.

I think somewhat, yes. Like the above said, media dictates fashion and so forth. But beauty is beauty. With or without makeup and Gucci bags.

Now, yes, we get a lot of our ideas from the media - and it's not always positive or healthy. But there have always been standards of beauty. It is said that Cleopatra was beautiful. And she wore lots of makeup.

beauty is still in the eye of the beholder. I just cant accept the idea that we are drones and just follow others ideas. I know what i like, but the world is changing.

Now that you mention it..yeah. Think about it, if we didn't have media running all over the place would we be worrying about the latest trends, fashion, makeup, ect.?
