Have YOU noticed that other animals are camouflaged with fur, feathers, etc.etc. (?) Vets have no trouble determining the age of an animal...we are accustomed to recognizing the signs in our own species, that's all....

I was thinking the exact same thing this day!

I have two old dogs, which look almost as when they were young. No wrinkles, few white hair, you would never tell, unless you knew them as I do. One has gone blind and deaf, the other one has less energy.
I agree with the other poster we don't see it (the age) because of the feathers or fur. But you can feel it, the skin develops some kind of roughness (kind of warts) and it becomes thinner. I know this, as I have to be softer when I pet them. I keep telling myslef, that nevertheless age is relative. I love them the same and they are still who they are ;-)

I know my animals well and they show their age in face and body just as much as humans do.

think about this... human are the only animals that will go jogging in the sun in 95+ degree weather while all other animals are smart enough to stay in the shade. see my point?
