a healthy breakfast and also, you may not be getting enough of a certain vitamin or minera. i know when i went vegan i started having trouble concentrating, and i found out it was because I was low on Omega 3. Coffee and powerade are always good.
so maybe suppluments will help vitalise you.
it may sound stupid, but when I cant fall asleep at night, i meditate. i know you can find meditation tapes for at night and they tell you to imagine this stuff. hot herbal tea, seems to be relaxing.

Go to bed by 10pm, do not have anything to eat or drink (besides water) for 2 hours before you go to bed. Make sure that there are no noises or distractions in your bedroom at night (ie: tv, radio, computer) that may disrupt your sleeping patterns at night... you might think you're getting 8 hours a night, but if you're temporarily waking, then you're not.
If you do these things, and you still feel tired during the day, consult your physician, you might have sleep apnea. Totally common, and treatable.

Drink coffee, tea, red bull, etc in the mornings and after lunch and get a lot of excercise after school. It's easier to fall asleep at night if you follow the same schedule every night even on weekends of going to sleep and waking up. Works for me.

I would say to take the sleeping advice that the other answerers have given, but also, during lectures, TAKE NOTES if you aren't already. It will help you concentrate and benefit you in the long run when you need to study. I have also heard that snacking (on healthy foods) throughout the day helps keep you awake.

lectures can be pretty boring unless it's a subject you're really interested in. maybe a bit more sleep at night and a healthy breakfast will help. keep an energy bar with you at school too. when you feel like you're starting to feel weary, eat that and some water. hopefully this will help. also, try some multie vitamins.

Really you cannot to tell you the Truth. If you re in college and in class for only a few hours at a time, then maybe. Otherwise going seven hours straight in grade school without feeling tired is impossible not matter what you do.

at night, put something scented with lavendar near your head or on your pillow...the fumes will put you into a fast sleep...then in the morning...jump out of bed and do like 10 jumping jacks or so...just to get going...
make sure that you're getting 8, at LEAST...studies now show that 10 hrs. keep you more alert and ready...so try going to bed about 30 minutes early and cutting your morning time by a couple minutes, allowing sleep time for you.

I have had that problem all my life. I find the by concentrating on the lecture and writing down what is being said, even if you think it is a waste. Keeping your brain busy will help stay awake.

Take a multi vitamin, check your iron level with the doctor because you could be low on blood. Cut out salt, sugar and coffee. Begin your day with a morning brisk walk and this will really perk you up for the day. Are you eating a well balanced diet.

cut out sugar (soda, sweets, etc)
drink lots of water
eat a handful of almonds (unroasted un salted) this will pick you up and give you energy and protein
our bodies naturally go into a "slump" in the afternoon. many of us dont have the opportunity to take a nap
good luck!
