Thank you Johnslat. I decided to Self-Publish Spook Rock so I could move on to my short stories in anthologies. I've had some very good fortune with Spook Rock, but it cost me a lot of time and money to Self-Publish. I'm not saying it's bad to do that, not at all, but most of the footwork in promoting the novel was my responsibiltiy.

I had my first signing in upstate NY where the boulder known as Spook Rock actually sits in Claverack Creek. There is an Indian legend there, but unfortunately not enough of a story to justify a full blown novel. I changed it to the witch trials and took it from there. It includes a video game written by two young people who actually play the game with the lives of real people whom they have to get out of the abyss safely.

I also did another signing in Baltimore, Maryland and several in Southern Maryland. One was in the new library in Prince Frederick where I met some very interesting people.

To all the young people on YA. Don't fall for these vanity publishers who promise this and that and never come through. All they want is your money. If you can't find an agent for your work, go with Self-Publish. A website, some of your hard earned money, (I advertised in magazines as well), and some footwork to bookstores will get you off and running.

For those who take a chance on Spook Rock, I hope you enjoy the read. In fact, I believe a lot of the younger folks will enjoy it most. There is a great feeling seeing your name on the bookstore window at your very own booksigning. Just make sure you get the right books to teach you how to write with confidence, and how to format and send out your work.

The very best to all who try...
