I'd like to know whether it's worth the upgrade, because I still have to change my motherboard to do that right? I currently have an AsusTek P5PE-VM

Yes you will need a new motherboard, DDR and DDR2 have different pin configurations. I would not recommend upgrading your mtherboard just for the fster speed ram, if you are going to go to that trouble you may as well upgrade the CPU too. those 3 replacements should give you a significant speed increase!

u may notice a slight difference in how fast things open ... but processing speed no ... dont waste ur money just for ram speed its not that big of a difference and in all honesty u cant really take advantage of the extra speed of the ddr2 without going to raid on the harddrives ..

Hi. They run at different FSB speeds but you may only notice if you measure. I have learned that I can only read so fast, so having a faster text rendition doesn't help. For gaming faster is ALWAYS better. So it depends on what you plan on doing.

YES, especially if you are running a Core2 Duo in it. Try running Super Pi and see the difference.
