Genghis Khan is widely considered a ruthless conquerer, but that is because unlike other great empires, his people did not leave a written history, only his foes did. Genghis united the people of the Mongolian plains into an army that conquered Asia from Korea to the Russia steppes Although he conquered cities by ruthless force, he also spread trade and knowledge of the varied cultures throughout his kingdom.

Genghis Khan aka. Temujin was born the son of a Mongolian nomadic tribal clan in 1162 and died 1227. At a young age he witnessed the murder of his father who was a tribal prince defeated in a local clan rivalry. The young Temujin was hidden away until about the age of 17 when he befriended some other local youths and organized in secret to take back his heritage and title. The nomadic tribes had a warring disposition and so Temujin continued in that vein repeatedly making each tribe he conqured submit fresh troops to expand his armies which offered relief to the older guard. Thus he conqured most of Asia, East Asia and well into Centeral Europe. In fairness though he slaughtered many he did have a fair system of laws and jurisprudence compared to what had been in place before him.
