The majority of our emergency responce agencies do a good job but occasionally some bad apples in thies agencies commit acts that fuel the flames of distrust in the community (particularly the black community). Personally I have whitnessed a Washington D.C. cop getting (serviced) while in uniform in a police car by a prostitute. I was in the car next to him and he didnt notice me and my girlfriend ( we were quietly laughing the whole time!) Now several firestations are under investigation in the washington dc area for running a prostitution ring and it is a total embarrassment for our community. Have you whitnessed any police unethical conduct in your community?

I have certainly seen cops behaving badly...everything from pulling me over so they could hit on me, to using the sirens to cut out of traffic on their way to lunch (yes, I recognized the cops, they were headed to the same restaurant as me, and they were parked at a fire hydrant outside!!). You should check out an organization called Cop Watch. It was founded in LA as a community action group to monitor just the type of behaviour you are describing.

Just because I've been arrested many times i'm sure i'll hear a lot of BS. But, I've seen more BS by cops than a lot of you ever will. Theft, drugs, trading evidence for personal gain, sexual harrassment, bogus charges, so on and so forth. I've even had a cop ask me to write a false statement against his partner. That same fat pig offered to loan me some of my property that they stole with no warrant. I also know they use the evidence room as a personal shopping center. For at least the last decade our local PD has been the butt of the joke. My gf witnessed the PD forcing a man to put a baby back in the car while ready for towing, and made him walk away. Then charged him with abandonment.

Sure.. there is misconduct in all agencies... even the military.. remember those troops in Iraq who killed that little girl's family, gang raped her and then shot her in the head... it's sad that there are people like that- that give people who risk their lives to protect us and our family.. but just because there are a few "bad apples" doesn't mean you should condemn the entire agency.. many cops, firefighters, soldiers and other agencies risk their lives daily to protect us.. some die, some are wounded, and some stay safe... but we should always respect them because they volunteer for those jobs... it is not forced on them, and we should always thank them when we have an opportunity for what they do for us and our families

The pressure to hire more and more officers has led to many unfit people in the ranks. It is common now for police officers to be arrested for crimes. This reflects poorly on the vast majority who are honest. The people responsible for hiring someone who that must have known had a criminal background is inexcusable, but nothing will happen to them.

you mean besides living in LA during the last riots back in 92 i think. yeah i have several black friends and i see it all the time. Ive been stopped two times in my life other than the 4 times me and a black male friends have been stopped. it seems a little odd considering the few times ive been out with black friends. all the times were bs too. it turns my stomach, people in this country say there's no bigotry. ive not seen any misconduct in fire dept but i dont see them much.

I have not. My husband is a police officer, and I would certainly hope that he is not participating in any of this misconduct. (I know he isn't, he loves his job and takes his sworn oath very seriously).
I do know of some cops that he worked with who were married and were getting it on behind their spouses back, but as far as everyone knows it was all off-duty.
It is very sickening to think about these "bad apples", afterall, we are supposed to trust these people with our lives, are we not????

There was once an undercover officer here that had a stable of women that he was pimping. Just today, an officer assigned to the PAL program is facing charges of embezzeling $35000 from PAL.
