I am not sure I understand your question but I will do my best to answer it.
I am a Republican and I do not have a problem with homosexuality. Let's get real, there are some Reps and some Dems (which Prez candidate has said same sex marriage is ok? NONE). What Republican is defending a gay person who admitted to committing a crime? Are they defending the crime or the persons right to their sexual preference.
If you are discussing Craig (this is based on your link), I think you will find the Republicans are not defending him; they are the ones who want him to step down. Note, this is NOT because he might be gay or may have done something wrong; this is because he pled guilty to a crime that dishonors the powerful position he was elected to. I also want him to step down because he needs to focus on his personal life; this case and his family and friends.
Next, as to Republicans having a problem with law-abiding gay citizens. Yes, Bush screwed up when he tried to pass an amendment to the constitution, and many of his Republican supporters wrote him to let him know. On the other hand, in his first 100 days alone, Bush did the following:
appointed a homosexual activist to head the White House office on AIDS;
kept every single Clinton executive order dealing with homosexuality;
continued the Clinton policy of issuing U.S. Department of Defense regulations to combat “anti-gay harassment” in a military that is required by law to keep homosexuals out of the armed forces;
presided over the appointment of a liberal homosexual activist and “gays”-in-the-military crusader to oversee the choice of civilian personnel at the Pentagon;
supported the application of a homosexual activist group as a consulting group to the United Nations "
You might try going to the website www.gaypatriot.com sometime if you are interested in getting both sides of the story.
Also, do not forget, it was DEMS who attacked Cheney's daughter for being gay in the hopes of turning some of the conservatives away from the Bush/Cheney ticket.

Hey captainobvious, he did commit a crime. If he didn't then why did he plead guilty. Is he just that stupid? You would figure a Senator with lots of money and who should have some commons sense would have pleaded not guilty and sought legal counsel. Republicans, not all I must add, feel the gays have an agenda to turn everybody gay. They will only defend the gay republicans. They are defending Craig on this post yet are slamming Barney Frank. Freaking hypocrites.

A 'hand signal' is now considered sex? Man--then I've been violated many times by people needing a square or two.
The 'proposition' was not illegal--there was no sex act. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor--as he was threatened with jail. Yeah, he is most likely gay and was afraid of the reprecussions it will have on his family and his (now over) career.
I don't have any problem with law abiding gay citizens. I have a few (out of the closet) gay friends. I don't believe in 'gay marriage' (but I'm not opposed to some sort of legal partnership) but Tim doesn't believe in 'eating animals'. We like each other despite our difference in opinion.
So, you're wrong on both accounts.

I do not have problems with homosexuals. I do not think, however, that there are legal or constitutional grounds for a judge to impose same-sex marriage on society.
I agree that it's hypocritical for "law and order" Republicans to second-guess the police officer.
Most, if not all, Republicans are not defending Craig.
We are, however, also pointing out that Republicans jettison their miscreants (and hypocrites), while Democrats appear to lionize theirs.
Why didn't N.O.W. demand Clinton resign, for committing serial sexual harassment? And wasn't he supposed to be a feminist?

They should cut the cord on this lying hypocrite. Mr. "what do you think about this" ( flashing his Senate card ) should be able to find willing sex partners in a more appropriate way. Never mind that a** hole is married. Hey, they keep defending GWB...and that ship is going down after the rats gnawed holes in the side before jumping off.

That's easy.Conservatives know gay people exist but they prefer the ones who stay in the closet.In their idea being gay is wrong,dirty and a sin so they admire people who try to hide that even if it leads to disgusting behavior like soliciting lewd conduct in a public restroom as in this case.
In their opinion being openly gay and or advocating gay rights is even more disgusting

why wont democrats come out against the persecution of Craig for the fact that he committed no crime. how is flirting with someone in public a crime? the worst lawyer in the world could have got him off of the charges but he didnt want it out in the public. On the other hand as far as politically I dont know who has defended him to stay in office and every poll Ive seen of republicans an overwhelming majority thinks he should resign. two different situations. I find it funny libs are complaining about hypocrisy by Craig but refuse to defened his attempt find a consenting adult that you love to use with regards to the homosexual issue

The whole Craig thing has knocked some of them over the edge. Notice how they now say "both parties are full of perverts" - you wouldn't have heard that 3 months ago on here.
It's a sign of the desperation.

Can you overgeneralize just a bit more? What problems do Republicans have with law abiding gay citizens?
