Part a)
x = [- 3 ± √(9 - 16)] / 8
x = [- 3 ± √ ( - 7) ] / 8
x = [- 3 ± i √ 7 ] / 8
Discriminant = [ - 3 ± i √7 ]

Part b)
Roots are:-
(- 3 ± i √(7) ) / 8
Both roots are imaginary.
