I change my son often and he's exclusively breastfed and almost everytime he poops he has huge blowouts!!! It's just soooo miuch.

Also when is it going to stop being so obvious when he poops. I mean I never had this problem with my daughter she was formula fed and I never heard her poop. With my son it's way too obvious. I can hear it across the whole house. It's so loud. Especially when we're out it gets kind of embarrassing!! Haha, is it always going to sound like that?

My baby boy also had major blowouts (exclusively breastfed). It would sometimes shoot out the sides of his nappy and run down my legs if I was holding him. Just gross. Watch out for when it comes when you are in the middle of a nappy change - projectile! My son is now 7 months and it got better at around 5 months. I started him on solids at 6 months and now it is a different story. He goes really red in the face, grunts and looks like his head is about to explode - no disguising what he is up to. Although the solids poos are well contained, they are very stinky. Something for you to look forward to.

Breastfed babies absorb almost everything you give them, so there is no waste sometimes. My daughter will go days without pooping, but when she does, watch out! Last week I went to change her and she seriously had poop in her armpits. I just stripped her down and dropped her in the tub.

I have no idea when it gets better - maybe when she starts on solids and the poop gets a little more often and of a different consistency? Until then I get my kicks handing her off to her dad when I hear it coming!

how old is he? my son never really had "blowouts but when he pooped he pooped that's for sure. he is still breasstfed and he'll be 5 months in about a week and a half. he now poops about every 3 days which is normal for breastfed babies because breastmilk is so pure it is almost all absorbed by the bosy

Our doctor told us that the "explosive" BMs for our exclusively breastfed baby it's due to the composition of the breastmilk and how their digestive systems break it down. and the BMs would be less "explosive" starting at about 4 months. Even now at 3 mos, a few have started becoming more silent. It can be quite embarrasing and amusing!

Some baby's are just gassy or have explosive poops. My son wasn't so bad, but we could tell when he went. Check what your eatting too. It could be making him constipated. As for when it stops, well, my son is a year old and we still can tell and hear and smell (!) when he goes. I think it comes with the territory of being a boy. He also seems very proud of his gassiness. Good luck.

Firstly it isn't all breastfed babies, it's just some.

It is possible that something in your milk is making him gassy, in particular if you are feeding on a schedule he may not be getting enough fat in his milk and that can cause gas.

It will change when it changes, no one can tell you when that will be. My son only did that for a month or so around 4 months. Before that he pooped way too often to have blow outs.

Just a perk, I guess!! Unless it is causing him pain or discomfort...then you might examine your diet, as many things pass on to your baby. If he's happy and all is well...I say let it rip! (I had a breastfed baby that seemed to only have gas during church! The really quiet times of course!! I constantly found myself explaining to those around me that "it wasn't me"!)

My son will be 4 mos tomorrow and yesterday was his first non-explosive poo. Well, I didn't hear it any way. We were at a restaurant and I was holding him, he didn't even really push, but when I went to pass him to Grandma, I had poo on my pants. It was still a mess, he goes every three days, but not the loud explosion.

I never heard my breastfed baby poop...She just smells after. Maybe its a boy thing and not a breastfed thing. LOL.

aww, sounds like my 6 week old son! he's definitely NOT descreet about his bowel movements!
he grunts and groans and twitches and strains and turns bright red. and he's had tons of blow outs .. but I just switched from huggies to PAMPERS!! He was having blow outs on a daily basis with the huggies .. but none with the Pampers!!!
he is strictly breastfed as well.
