I could go on and on for hours on end about Edward Cullen from the Twilight books. He's absolutely perfect!
My friend convinced me to read the Twilight books during my "Post-Potter depression." She promised me that I would fall in love with Edward, and I told her that I could never fall in love with a fictional character.
I was forced to eat my words.
Yeah, Snape is pretty much the best character in the potter books (besides Gred and Forge) so I see your side of the story. He isn't attractive in the movies, but you don't have to see him like that in the books!

I'm not even gonna lie. I'm a total Edward Cullen fangirl. You know, the hot, mysterious, sweet vampire from Twilight?
Whoa, Severus Snape?? I mean, if I were gonna pick a Slytherin to crush on, it'd have to be Draco. =)
And Wes in The Truth About Forever (Sarah Dessen) was another one of those hot, mysterious people. It's so weird that I like those kinds of guys in books, because in real life, I'm not all that into the mysterious guys ...
=)

Oh yes..you certainly aren't alone. That just means that the authors are doing a great job describing their characters and bringing them to life, often with noble and self-sacraficing qualitites.
I know TONS of females crushing on Snape, especially after HP7!
Here is a quick short list of some of my literary crushes, although not in order. I think, for the moment that Edward Cullen is my #1. He's perfect and ruining boyfriends for every girl between the ages of 10 and 100.
Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice
Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables series
Edward Cullen from the Twilight series (lotta fan(g) girls out there!)
Tom Sawyer from same titled novel
D'Artagnan & Aremis from The Three Musketeers
Literary crushes are fun and safe. They never let you down, never age, and you can call on them anytime you wish and they never get cranky.

Yes! In Elizabeth Peters' Egyptian mysteries, the son Ramses grew up to be such an attractive man - I had such a crush on him in several books!
