what does it mean online when someone calls someone a troll?

no one called me a troll. i was just wondering what it means because i have heard other people referred to as trolls

TROLL (noun):
1) An ugly brutish creature of European origin, usually lacking in intelligence. Enjoys lurking in dark places and harassing unsuspecting passers-by.
2) One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.
3) An aesthetically repulsive person, often has terrible social skills and poor hygiene. See "Troglodyte".
4) Any person who is so miserable and lacking self worth that said person makes it his/her life's goal of pissing others off and generally being a lamer.

A troll is someone who posts inflammatory messages attempting to get as many replies as possible. The term comes from sports-fishing - "trolling" is where you move your line through the water trying to get a fish to bite on it.

It means you are a fake poster, a time waster, and generally an annoying person who posts fake questions or insults people for no reason.

I believe it means that THAT person is Online- looking to cause Trouble. Your BEST weapon against them- is to totally ignore them... :)
