slope is rise/run
or (change in y)/(change in x)

thus (7- (-2))/(6-5)
= 9/1 = 9

You just have to use the slope formula:

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

So, you have that (x1, y1) = (5, -2), and (x2, y2) = (6, 7), and we just need to plug the values in:

m = (7 - (-2)) / (6 - 5)
m = (7 + 2) / (6 - 5)
m = 9 / 1
m = 9 ... ANSWER

the slope of the line containing (x0,y0) and (x1,y1) is
(y1 - y0)/(x1 - x0) = [7 - (-2)]/(6 - 5) = 9
