2P = 30 - Q
P = 15 - (Q / 2)

ok you have the equation Q= 30 - 2P and we are solving for P.

Step1: subtract 30 from both sides of the equation.
Q = 30 - 2P
-30 -30
= Q - 30 = -2P

Step2: divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of P, which is -2 respectfully.
Q/-2 - 30/-2 = -2P/-2

- notice that -2P/-2 cancels out leaving us with P, we're getting close YAY :-)

so now that we've divided our whole equation be -2 it should look like this:
Q - 30 /-2 = P

Step3: Execute (simplify) the equation
Q/ -2 -30/ -2 = P
-notice that you cannot simplify Q/ -2 any further, therefore you have to leave it as is

- remember this rule when you get to the (-30/ -2) part
whenever both your numerator, in this case -30 and denominator in this case -2 are negative you will *always* yeild a positive quotient in this case 15 because -30/ -2 is POSITIVE 15.

Step4: present your answer
the answer to this question is: P = -Q/2 + 15

- note that we put the negative in the numerator where Q is to avoid a negative denominator.

GOOD LUCK! and I sincerely hope that I've explained everything to your understanding (if you should ever need another equation solved in the future here's my email: raizjean@yahoo.com

a) To isolate -P, subtract 30 from the two facets. Q - 30 = -P Divide the equation by utilising -a million to precise the equation in terms of P, not -P. 30 - Q = P b) Q = 30 - P I merely did that one (see above.) c) 6Q = 8 - 2P Subtract 8 from the two facets, isolating -2P. 6Q - 8 = -2P Divide the equation by utilising -2 to isolate P. 4 - 3Q = P

Easiest way:

Q = 30 - 2P

Add 2P

Q + 2P = 30 (- 2P + 2P)
Q + 2P = 30

Subtract Q

2P = 30 - Q

Divide by 2

P = 15 - (Q/2)

P = (30 - Q)/2

Q = 30 - 2P
==> subtract 30 from both sides
Q - 30 = -2P
==> divide by -2 on both sides
(Q - 30) / -2 = P
==> simplify both terms on left
-Q/2 + 15 = P

So, your final answer is: P = 15 - Q/2.

Q = 30 - 2P

Q -30 = - 2P

- (Q -30)/2 = P

or

P = (30 - Q)/2

or

P = 15 - (Q/2)
