Prof. Anger...hilarious.
Don't get me wrong, folks, I don't dwell on this stuff...just not a big pop fan.

Never heard of Neil Diamond's music before, but isn't he rock 'n' roll?

Anyway, most people are way too ignorant. They think pop is all this mainstream crap that's been happening for the last twenty years or so. I have no clue, but I'm guessing rock and pop are together because they were actually rather connected during 50's and 60's music. If you've ever heard of The Beatles, they incorporated both rock and pop into their music. Same with the Beach Boys.

I think the original definitio of Pop music was music that is popular. If a song is popular then it could be labeled pop, but the term can be misunderstood and yes I agree with you that real rock bands should not be confused with the likes of brittany, madonna, etc.

Absolutely!

But so many people - even record shops - can't tell the difference between Rock and Pop.

And Classic Rock needs a separate category - nothing annoys me more than someone asking for 'Rock' music / info, and then wittering on about Emo!

It bugs me that great bands like Slayer and Cannibal Corpse have to share a section with Hannah Montana and Hilary Duff.

I'm with you! Britney and AC/DC just don't go together....although the earlier post about Hanna Montana and Zeppelin makes me think that Robert Plant and Hanna look alike.......j/k.

Nope. I've got bigger things to be concerned about like whether or not I can pull off this spandex jumpsuit. I'm not sure lime green works with my flesh pallet.

I'm glad you saw the joke. I was just messin with you. It doesn't bother me, but I get where you're coming from.

Yes, two different genres of music!

I STILL say labels for *Music* are NOT a bad thing when used properly. No one can tell me Christina Aguilera, for ex., is rock.

As for Y!A, eh. I don't mind it. Give me an excuse to bash acts I can't stand. :)

YES! that pisses me off. rock and pop are not alike. PLUS for people who listen to rock, they normally dont call it pop. (ewww) pop is upbeat and normally, the lyrics dont make sense. thats why stupid preps can listen to it and crap. rock makes sense and actually cares about the music. and ISNT ****. so yes, that pisses me off alot!
