I was going to get a 8800GTS but with the positioning of my northbridge heatsink it wouldn't fit. I brought an X1950 pro for next day delivery, only to shortly realise the X1950 XT would have been a better investment. My current card is a 7800GT, and I was wondering if the X1950pro would be worth keeping, or if I should immediately return it in its unused state, to get a refund and get the X1950 XT instead.

X1950 Pro gives significant improvement over your 7800GT BUT more so with the X1950 XT.

Consider modifying your NB cooler if you want awesome performance from the 8800 series.

You aren't making much of an upgrade here I'd just keep the 7800GT.

But if the battle is truly going to remain between the x1950 pro and the x1950 XT, yes you should get the XT, the ram on it is like 30% faster and the gpu is like 20% faster.

Buy a 8800 GTX cause this card eats any game alive. And get rid of that heat sink somehow.
