I've aggravates some with suggesting that we should have universal auto care, universal auto insurance, universal lawn care, and universal downtown parking. No, they weren't aggravated because they oppose one citizen being forced to pay for another citizen...in general...they felt like these are things that individuals can do for themselves. It seems like individuals can do most things for themselves, but not healthcare.

Why not just simplify things, and have the government pay for any service that's out there? You want to go to an expensive dinner, it's covered by the state. You want to go get a massage, it's covered by the state. You need a diamond ring to propose, go to the jewler and demand your diamond ring as a civil right. No more concern about the price of gas, just pull up, pump, and drive away.

This seems the most humane and fair, don't it? Why should the rich and working only benefit from the good life?

Henry 8...neocon is just another name from the left...intended to shame and silence a conservative mind. I'm not deterred by that, nor homophobe, nor greedy, nor hateful, nor warmonger. Keep em coming.

Oh yes- absolutely! Americans today have to work too hard to get the things that they want, and it just isn't fair!! The government should supply us with everything we need. Whether we are still working an entry level job at the age of 40, or we get 12 years of education to become a top scientist- we should all be able to eat at Ruth's Chris whenever we want to. It's the American way!

Seriously, after living in NZ for a couple of years, I've seen first hand how socialism affects a society. If we want lazy and unmotivated citizens and don't value education, socialism is the way to go! This experience is likely going to drive me to vote Republican when I get back to The States...=)

It is not an alltogether bad idea, though I am certain you mean it tongue in cheek. Socializing medicine will not put any greater burden on the taxpayer than they already have as far as paying for the health care of the poor. One major reason for the rising costs of health care is the health care that is doled out to those unable to pay for it. The system is broken and needs to be fixed. A major problem is that working people pay millions into the health insurance system that abandons them when they are no longer able to work.

how would the government possibly pay for all this?

Taxes would be raised so high that it would be unbearable.

Plus, I always like to ask this question . . . Who do you trust to spend your money best . . . Yourself or the government?

I've spend time working with government agencies and I can tell you that they are terrible at spending money wisely. The amount of waste generated by the government is sickening.

The reason most things are done best in the private sector is because of competion. An insurance company that does a bad job goes out of business because a better one comes along. Who comes along when the govenment is doing a bad job? Answer is nobody. So be careful before you think its wise to give so much power to the govenment. they already have too much as it is in my opinion.

Get rid of the IRS and Federal Reserve

Form our own National tax for auto, health and home insurance

Like a huge insurance pool - with the entire Nation in one insurance group - the cost should be minimal meaning we will still take home 85% of our earnings!

Hear! Hear! If the US government spent a fraction on health as they have done on the Iraq war or buying guns and ammo, every man, woman and child in the country would have health insurance.

Honey, by now there is only a socialized and uniformed stupidity in the good ole US. And BTW, it seems completely universal.

Not facetious but neocon. That is the sarcastic way they bring their fear tactics forth. Be careful lest people consider you a neocon. That, these days, is a fate worse than a torturous death.

I can't tell whether or not you are being facetious or genuine. Some socialism is good but too much would stifle the incentive to better oneself through capitalistic means.
