Question for UK electricians please!!

I am asking this question as i would like the correct information
(i dont intend doing the work myself but would get a qualified person in under part P regulations for kitchen wiring)

Can a new ring circuit dedicated to the kitchen only have the wire run in properly constructed upvc "skirting board"
with surface mounted sockets running from this.

I ask this question because i feel less mess/disruption would be caused wiring up with the above method.

As we have quite a few kitchen appliances and they hide most of the skirting board anyway and surface mounted sockets would not show up also could this method of wiring be used in a safe and proper manor.

Yes - you can run the cables in many types of containment, why not speak to a good electrician who may well be able to fully conceal other sections and make the sockets flush. (I dislike surface wiring and accessories, and go to great lengths to conceal these)

Yes, however you should consider having an accessible means of switching off the appliances (switches above the worktop height this can be achieved using mini trunking up from the skirting
