What do you people think about this global warming stuff? Do you think it's true? There's been a lot of debate on this subject. Is it really true that the increase of CO2 levels are made by emissions from our cars and such? Or is it from the sun bursting its gamma rays like Micheal Savage says?

Sane people only consider two choices - it is a result of human activity or it is a part of a natural cycle unrelated to humans. The ideas of Michael Savage, who is also unrelated to humans, are not given any credence by anyone except his radio audience.

It's true. Science has proven it.

Meehl, G.A., et al (2004). "Combinations of Natural and Anthropogenic Forcings in Twentieth-Century Climate". Journal of Climate 17: 3721-3727

and many other studies

A simple picture of that particular study is here:

Michael Savage is one of many people, who are not climate experts, with wild theories (and little or no data). Scientists don't accept these, because the data says they're not true. Proof:

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686

It's not the end of the world, but it's very bad. If we don't take action there will be massive coastal flooding and damage to agriculture. Details here.

The bottom line:

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

The way that I understand some of these things is this:

Car definitely emit CO2, and CO2 is a greenhouse gas.

When Glacier National Park was founded there were about 150 glaciers there. 120 of them are completely gone. The remaining 30 glaciers are reduced in size by 80%.

The shrinking of the northern polar icecap is 20 years ahead of predictions.

The warming of the planet is real, but people debate whether mankind is responsible, or whether anything can be done about it.

We take millions of tons of carbon out of the ground (in the form of hydrocarbons from oil) and we put it in the air.

And, of course, we have to continue to make our cars and trucks bigger and more powerful.

If it were up to me, a person wanting to buy a huge pickup truck would first have to show just cause for needing one.
"If you think that's big, you should check out the size of my DICK"

Just remember one thing and that will put everything else into perspective: People are crazy.

I think Einstein would love a statement like that - one statement that explains everything else.

No, it isn't the end of the world. Should a lorry mash you and yours the planet will evolve without whatever likely gene pool
impact reader might have contributed.

This is not the end, nor even the beginning of the end, but perhaps someplace in the middle of the middle.
