Forget about gay or straight, republican or democrat, or any of that stuff for a second.

An arrest warrant states the law broken and the action taken by the arrestee that broke that law. Mr. Craig violated MN public lewdness laws. He "exhibitted conduct that is commonly associated with having annonomous sex."

Think about that!! He "EXCHANGED known, established signals to AGREE to have sex" with a supposed consenting adult and was arrested.

Guys think about that the next time you buy a girl a drink or ask her to dance in a bar. Ladies, what happens the next time you make eye contact with a guy accross the room in a bar or do your best sahay past a guy?

No I don't think they should have sex in a bathroom next to my kid taking a dump. But think of the concept of "slippery slope."

How about gay bars? Many politicians are against sex outside of marriage, well for us anyway. Will they stop here?

I see the point that you are making. There are way to many laws on the books. Most of them got there because of hate mongers that didn't like the fact that other people were taking part in activities that they have don't like.

I have thought about that. I asked a few guys I know if they knew these signals and none of them did. I asked if they had ever given the signal, and the foot one was one most said they probably had. I don't mean to be vulger but one guy said if you are sitting and nothing is moving, you kind of whistle in the wind and he had probably tapped and moved his feet while he was waiting.

It made me wonder what the female signals are. I have ever given any? I know I have kept my legs a little wider that I would at home so I can balance without sitting (if the toilet isn't to clean or I am at a public park type area). I have waited for a stall so I can be next to my daughter when in a large restroom area such as an airport. I even wiggled my fingers under a stall when I thought it was one of the people I had gone to the concert with, just to be funny, only to be embarrased when the person spoke and I realized I was wrong (they both were wearing orange and pink flip flops if you can believe it).

Heck, do I need to worry about educating my kid re not accidently giving an agreed apon signal?

Now, I do believe Craig should step down because of this. It is not about innocent or guilt, it is that he has too much going on in his personal life to focus on his job like he would need to.

Good thought. But I suppose there are more questions. Such as, do these laws specify exactly where these sort of actions are unlawful?

If they don't, then they may be fought on the grounds that they are unconstitutional.

But then we've got the problem of keeping this behavior out of public restrooms. (I'm pretty liberal, by the way, but I applaud any effort to protect public restrooms from this sort of thing)

Americans are told "Land of the Free"
but the freedom only goes as far as the moral judgments of puritanical laws.
The conservatives ignore the slippery slope, until they are a target.

I'm now scared to tap my foot in bathrooms anymore, or wink at that cute blond

He was attempting to have sex with someone in a public restroom.
Yeah- he could have really fought the charge. If I were entraped and in his position of power, I surely would have made a bigger fuss about it than he did- and I surely wouldn't have kept it from my friends and family. I for sure wouldn't have plead guilty.
I do know what you are saying, though- where is the line?

Craig is history in the senate because he pled guilty. He could have pled innocent, and hired a lawyer. A good lawyer might have gotten him off. I believe he pled guilty because he was guilty and he is gay or bi-sexual. There is no slipper slope here; just a guilty man making excuses.

Would it be "slippery slope" if it was your kid in that next stall that anyone was "giving signals known to be requesting sex" ? Perhaps your kid didn't know what the signal was and gave one back that accepted the advance. Should he also be guilty?

That is a very interesting question. But you must realize that none of this would have happened if he was not a senator.
