Bo Yang once served some time in prison, on Green Island, for criticizing his own countrymen. Thus as a political prisoner, and one who spares no one in his written works, he is more infamous than just plain old (look I can throw a ball) famous.

I recommend to those here who still haven't heard of him yet - read 'The Ugly Chinaman' today, and judge for yourself if his criticisms are true or false.

Thanks J. S., now I know who it is. I started reading his books when in high school. Every Taiwanese of my age knows him, now he dedicated all his time to Chinese history. He still has publications from time to time.
