I'm looking for some things I can print out...a do-it-yourself landscaping where they draw pictures and label what plants to put where. I'm not good with landscaping and this would help-I've seen it before but just have no idea where to look for it. Thanks!

www.MyGardenPlans.com. This is a new gardening website that will allow people to find, create, and share garden plans online...kind of like YouTube for gardeners. Things are just getting started so there isn't much content yet, but in a couple weeks people will be able to add pictures of their own yards with accompanying plant lists, etc.

Last year I designed my own landscape and was disappointed with the lack of good content on the internet. I wanted something that showed real examples...i.e. garden plans of existing gardens. Seeing a need for this, I've begun creating a website to do just that. As an avid gardener and experienced Java developer, I believe that this website will have easy-to-use tools for do-it-yourself and professional landscapers. Enjoy! (Check back in a few months and you'll see a lot of improvements.)

I found a pdf file online that might be of assistance for you. It asked questions to be considered when land scaping, and added a blank chart for you to drawl on. It can be a guide for you to use.http://www.waysidegardencenter.com/pdf/DIYlandscape4.pdf

Then you can go to a local place to have a chart made up to help guide you. I have done some research in this area, and home depot is doing test marketing of landscaping supply stores. You might be able to go to one of their stores for such a program.

Alot of landscaping stores where I live will come out and give ideas and place a chart out for you. They also will do it for you once you approve the chart if you wish.

Your first step would be to fill out the questions on the pdf sight I referred you to, so you will have some guidance when you talk to them.

If you see some plant that you really liked in your neighborhood- take a picture of it (be sure you get the neighbor's approval so they wont get upset if they see you just taking picture of their yard, and think your casing their house for robbery.) I would also have pictures of what your yard currently looks like when you talk to a land scaper about the chart you wish to have done.

Make sure you have a budget in mind when you talk to the landscaper because you can do landscaping on a budget or it can cost thousands of dollars. You could ask them to draw the budget landscaping chart first and then also draw a chart for adding on as your budget allows. You are getting to the time of year you will want to get those trees in the ground if you havent done so yet, and if you are looking at bulbs to plant then you need to get them in also. I know bulbs planted this fall might come up next spring or you might not see the results until 2 years later.

Here's the free interactive landscaping website, called "Plan-a-Garden" ... from Better Homes & Gardens. You'll have register to log on to the website (You don't need to buy anything or subscribe to their magazine).

http://www.bhg.com/bhg/story.jsp?storyid=/templatedata/bhg/story/data/planagardenhome_03022002.xml
"Plan-a-Garden lets you design anything from a patio-side container garden to your whole yard. Use your mouse to "drag-and-drop" more than 150 trees, shrubs, and flowers. Add dozens of structures like buildings, sheds, fences, decks -- even a pond."

P.S. Click on the refresh buttom (at the top) if the page doesn't come up at first. You may also have to close their magazine ad. by clicking on the x

Good luck! Hope this is what you're looking for.

Ladies Home Journal also has landscaping on their site, but BH&G is probably the best. I think they are the ones that have the diagrams you can print.

I know there are pre-made plans at BHG.com (Better Homes and Gardens) I'm not sure that is what you are looking for.

Good Luck
