40% of 30 students are boy
of means to multiply
so instead of saying 40% of studends are boy, we say:
40% mulitply to 30 are boy
40% = 40/100 = .4
.4 x 30 = 12
so there are 12 boys

Since 40% of students are boys out of a class of 30
simply calculate your percentages out of 100 * 30 students
40 / 100 * 30 (students) = 12 boys
that leaves a percentage of 60% for the girls
so 60 / 100 * 30 (students) = 18girls
so 12 + 18 = 30 students

If forty percent of the class are boys, then sixty percent of the class are girls (100% - 40% = 60%).
60% = 60/100 = 6/10
The class has 30 students.
6/10 * 30 = 180 / 10 = 18 students are girls
Simple as that

50% of the 30 students would equal 15.
but you have to do is multiple
30 students X 40%= 12 students are boys, 18 are girls

Set it up. 30 students * .60 = 18 of the students are girls

12 boys 18 girls. you can do a ratio like 40/100 times blank over 30. multiply 30 and 40 and divide by 100 and youll get 12. then subtract 12 from 30 and youll get 18 girls.

"of" mathematically represents * or multiplication.so "40% of" is simply (40/100)*number of students in class.which is 40%*30=12.but these are the boys.so the girls are 30-12=18.
