A real one? I hope not because that would be heavy and gross.
I have seen replicas in the malls dangling in some cutesey fashion stores and I know that those adorn little bodies when worn as belts over an exposed waist when you wear a low rider jeans and short blouse. Sometimes you actually thread it through the belt loops.
It means nothing, it is just a fashion accesory.. You can toss it tomorrow when it is not fashionable anymore.
My guess is that it accidentally broke and the user recycled the remaining chain to use as a necklace to get more use of it. In another 3-6 months, it might be obsolete. She may as well get some more days of use.
