There isn't a federal law requiring holidays but union contracts do require them and most companies close for holidays. Some would pay straight time, others might offer and different day off instead and some don't consider holidays at all.

Do you have a contract or an employment agreement that states you get overtime for holidays?

Are you paid anything for a holiday if you don't work?

Depends on your contract.

Sometimes, I got regular time. Some times I told them I had other plans and got as much as triple time.

I don't see why not,they get paid for not working on all the other days.
