~~~ I love the rain! Every single raindrop that falls from the sky is "My Favorite Raindrop" Last winter I used to help care for an elderly man who was an invalid. He was my friend and neighbor,and I'd go over everyday (and nights) to tend to his needs and visit with him. One day when I came in from a rain storm and was dripping wet,his daughter looked at me and said....."Oooh it's a horrible day out there isn't it?" I said ",No,it's a beautiful day,and I will rejoice and be glad in it." Geo,the old guy,who hadn't been able to walk in the rain for two years looked at me and said..."Share that rain with me" So, I happily shook myself off on him, which he loved too. Then I opened all the curtains up real wide so he could see the rain himself. That was fun,and after that I always "shared the rain" with him. R.I.P. Geo. ~~~
I am from a land of high desert where there are tall mountains and wide vistas of dry lakebeds ( I can provide pictures ). This time of year the temperature is relatively high and every afternoon thunderclouds roll in from the west like gargantuan steel gray titans blotting out the sun and releasing their wrath upon the thirsty land below.
You can see, feel and smell the maelstrom well before it arrives. Energy tingles upon your skin, the temperatures drop, winds buffet and the scent of the coming rain is so heady on the dry air that you feel drunk with it. Then, lightening flashes so close that the crack of the concussion is felt in the center of your chest immediately. The temperature drop is so great that you feel chilled and as the rain begins to fall you feel the cold drops pelt you with a palpable force. You cannot, would not run for cover, the experience is so inebriating and exhilarating that all you want to do is stand in the midst of this wonder and let its energies sweep you up while the rain soaks you through and through. These storms overtop you for a while in their majesty then slowly cross away to the east grumbling over other mountain ranges in the distance where you can see their lofty heads light up in the evening sky as they pour their fury out on the jack rabbits, rattlesnakes and coyotes in the next district.
Here in Arizona, it doesn't rain that often. So when it does, it makes the desert smell so fresh, like nature. I love it when it rains here. I stand and look upwards toward the sky and let the rain hit my face.
I don't like to stand out in the rain & get wet, but I do like a good spring thunder storm. I love sitting on the front porch & see the lightening & hearing the thunder roll. I find it relaxing for some reason.
Yes. I find standing in pouring rain--especially if it is a sun shower--an ecstatic experience. I'm guessing that neighbors who see me do this think I am nuts--but I find it to be a truly transcendentally joyful experience.
